TWIN FALLS

Delphina “Josie” Rodriguez

October 15, 1957 ~ July 26, 2020

Our beloved Mother who was always so nurturing and held the whole family together, Delphina “Josie” Rodriguez, at the age of 62, departed to heaven on July 26, 2020, while residing in her home in Twin Falls, Idaho. Josie was always surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born on October 15, 1957 in Fredrick, Oklahoma to Porfirio Flores and Delphina Barrientas.

Josie was the 8th out of 12 children, and always took on the role of “Big Sister” providing advice, care, and support to all her siblings, older or younger. As a child her family moved often, following work, her parents finally resided in San Benito, Texas. At the age of 18, Josie decided to move from San Benito, Texas to Buhl, Idaho with her older brothers and sisters to make a better living and start a new life.

At the age of 20 years old, she met the love of her life, Rafael Rodriguez, while working at Green Giant in Buhl, Idaho. Together they began with nothing, but ended up learning, growing, and working hard together as a young family to provide a great home and making sure all the children’s needs were met and achieved. This included random trips to Chuck Wagon that all the kids loved doing as a family in Twin Falls, Idaho on Fridays.

Josie was always a hard worker, working many jobs and always striving to do her best and push those around her to do the same. She took pride in all she did and cared for everyone around her, regardless if they were family, friend or co-worker and always giving 110% in anything she did. Some of the many accomplishments she completed was working for Clear Springs Trout company for over 20 years and Falls Brand for 11 years. It did not matter what job or position she held she was always sharing a big smile, showing kindness, and greeting everyone around her.

Josie was always the life of the party! She was always caught dancing alone or with her husband Rafael at the house, in the yard or at any Baile. She enjoyed anything from being inside cooking, making tamales, having a beer or margarita, to fishing, camping, and barbecuing outdoors if it included spending time with family. Josie cherished every moment, always doing the simplest things with her family, yet making the most impact, she never expected anything in return and just wanted everyone to gather around to have fun, drink, laugh, sing karaoke and dance. Josie always made the best tamales and tortillas in the world, and always made sure you were fed, regardless if you were family or not. You never wanted to say “no” to her offerings because she would make sure you had food or something to drink. Her famous quote was always “Quieres juice”.

Josie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Rafael Sr. Rodriguez; her eight children, Silvia (Aurelio) Bautista, Hector (Lora) Rodriguez, Jesus Mendoza, Andrea (Samuel) Deleon, Humberto (Monica) Rodriguez, Arturo Mendoza, Alma (Angel) Canchola, and Rafael Jr.(Krista) Rodriguez; 29 grand kids; 5 great grandkids; her very loving, close, and favorite sisters,  Julia (Ricardo) Beraun, Mary Lopez, Paula Lopez and their families; also the Flores family of Castleford, Idaho, relatives in San Benito and Paula Morgan from Brownsville, Texas.

“I love you Forever, I’ll like you for Always, As long as I’m living my Mommy you will be.”
