John "Jack" Smith

January 25, 1950 ~ December 20, 2019

No words can express the pain and emptiness in our hearts as Friday, December 20, 2019 is a day that will be forever ingrained in our hearts, minds, and souls. It is a day that Heaven gained another angel. Our father, our kid's Papa, our mother's love of her life, a brother, an uncle, and our friend, John "Jack" Earl Smith was called back to heaven after suffering a sudden stroke.

Jack was born on January 25, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa. He married the love of his life, Linda Sue Smith, on November 5, 1990 they were married for 29 years. Jack always found joy in the small things, he was a sentimental man, he carried notes from his kids in his wallet and little souvenirs from his grandkids. He loved jokes and always had one ready for the kids, as well as a bandaid in his wallet and a peppermint in his pocket. He was a "bitchen" and "groovy" man, and to know him was to love him. He will forever have the yo-yo and we will keep the string in our hearts forever, for love has no expiration date. Until we meet again we will keep your memories close to our hearts and remember you fondly.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; four children, Marshall (Adele), Kristopher (Jessika), Laura (Emanuel) and Amanda; as well as his two sisters, Sandra and Connie (Tom); sister-in-law, Cindy; and many nieces and nephews that love him dearly; most importantly his grandchildren. Jack's pride and joy were his grandbabies, Asha, Jayce, Baylee, Alikah, Kylynn, Jakob, Alexander, Nevaeh, Wyatt, Dakota, Kaysielyn, both Nayeli's, Mauricio and  Krisha which he loved so much. They filled his heart and life with so much happiness. His daughter Amanda is a foster-parent and he also got the privilege of being a grandparent to many children to come in her home and our hearts as well.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Loran Smith Sr.; brothers, Loran Smith Jr. and Steve Smith; as well as his sister, Elee Minnick; and many friends as well as his many fur babies like, Bonzo, Spencer, Almost, What dog and Little Lillers. We find solace in the fact that he will be reunited with them and is now watching over us all from above.
