Marlene Harris

March 24, 1937 — April 15, 2020

Buhl

Marlene Harris, born March 24,1937, went to her heavenly home on April 15, 2020 with family by her side. She was born in Nickols County, West Virginia, but she wasn't born alone. She had a twin sister, Aden, who sadly passed when she was only 3 years old. Mom said she felt like something was missing from her, her whole life. Now you can be with your baby sister Mom.

Mom was the daughter of a West Virginia coal miner, Clifford Adam Pritt, and her mother worked for the railroad, Goldie Racheal Pearl Pritt. Mom lost both of her parents at an early age. She had three sisters and two brothers who she loved dearly. Our Mom was the most beautiful person you could meet. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She did not like when others spoke ill of people. She was a very honest person. She believed strongly in the words of the Bible and taught her children those words. When our mom said she was going to do something she would always do it. She was a very reliable person; you could always count on her. Mom worked her whole life in agriculture. She retired from Harris and Moran seed company in 1997. She was also a small business owner in the 1980´s.

Mom was divorced in 1973. She moved all her six children to Idaho and started to raise them on her own. Our youngest brother was mom’s only child born in Idaho. Mom believed her greatest achievement was raising her youngest son, Kevin, who had Down’s Syndrome. He was loved and adored greatly by our Mom. She never left his side. After many of years of being together they even began to walk and act alike. Sadly, Kevin passed away last year. Our mom was totally lost without him. Mom also became our oldest brother, Terry’s, caregiver when he became ill. She never once questioned taking care of him.  Sadly, our brother Terry passed away in 2016. Our brother, Brian, passed away in 2008. He was a coal miner in Crandell, Utah. This was truly the first time we saw our Mom totally heartbroken.  Mom helped raise her nieces and nephews, loving them as her own. She did the same for a lot of neighborhood kids as well. There were times when Mom would be cooking for 10 kids or more. Never turned anyone away. That´s what Mothers do for their children, care for them till the end. Family was everything to our Mom. Rest now Mom, know that you were a strong and beautiful Mother. Know that the words that you have given us will always ring though our hearts and minds. How you taught us to be kind, honest and helpful strong women. We, your daughters, will carry you with us forever and share your beautiful ways with all we meet and to remember to try and be kind no matter what life deals us.

Marlene is survived by four daughters, Brenda Lee Childers of La Pine, Oregon; Mary Daniel of Twin Falls, Idaho; Goldie Racheal Pearl of Buhl, Idaho; and Rita Lane Harris of Buhl, Idaho; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Rest Mom, your beautiful work is done. Thank you for all you gave us. We Love you Mom. You will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank Horizon Home Health and Hospice, Farmer Funeral Chapel and everyone that sent flowers.

Marlene was laid to rest at West End Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho.
