Norma Shelton

August 13, 1924 — May 9, 2019

BUHL

Our sweet loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed from this life into the arms of God on May 9, 2019 at the age of 94 years and 9 months. Norma Jane was born to John Leonard Myers and Cecil Del Henson on August 13, 1924 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Norma had one sister, Wilva "Billie" Louella Myers Galiano that preceded her in death in 1978. Norma graduated from Webster High School in Tulsa in 1942 at the age of 18, when she met Bobby Eugene Shelton, the love of her life, at the roller rink. They were married three months later and were together for over 50 years until his death on June 12, 1995. They had two daughters, Donna Ann Shelton Puckett of Sedona, AZ and Melodee Jean Shelton Bonnes of Buhl, Idaho.

Bob and Norma Jane lived in Tulsa, Muskogee and Oklahoma City until a tornado hit near their home in 1960 and Bob asked the family if they wanted to move to California, where the family lived for 34 years until Bob's death and Norma Jane moved to Idaho in 1995.

She has seen us through our trials in life and always had the answers we needed. She loved God and the church and taught Sunday School for 33 years to 8-year olds in three churches in California. She loved crocheting, bowling and gardening, dancing, and taught us to play the piano and always helped with our school activities. She worked in retail and then started working in the optical business with Bob. Later she worked at Mechanics National Bank as a receptionist until her retirement in 1995.

Norma Jane is survived by her daughters, Donna Ann (Jim) Puckett; Melodee Jean (Steve) Bonnes; grandson, Steve Eugene Van Tol; granddaughter, Katherine Ann (Logan) Trowbridge; great grandson, Devin Robert Van Tol; step grandchildren, Amber, Heather (Joe), Shanna (Jason), Tami, Jerffery (Cindy), and Michael; step great grandchildren, Jade, Jasmine, Steve, Pearl, Ember, Aidin, Ashton, Avery, Aspen, Autumn, Aceson, James, Caleb, Joshua, Delilah, Rebecca, Blaine, Jordan, Teri, Sarah, and Jason; step great great grandchildren, Vincent, Aiyana, Aiden, Logan, Shailene, Kannon, Axel, Teagan, and Marleigh.

Norma Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; her sister; and all of her in-laws and their spouses. She was the last of her generation.

We wish to thank A Caring Hand, and Visions Hospice. Also, we would like to thank River Rock Assisted Living in Buhl for the care they gave Mother in her final months. After not being able to speak for some time, Mother told one of her friends from the assisted living, "I just want to go see Jesus." the day before her passing from this life.
