Alverta Eichelberger - Filer

On November 8, 2014 Alverta Eichelberger, 95, left this earth to walk and talk in the heavenly garden with her Lord and Savior.

Alverta was born in Milford, Nebraska January 17, 1919 as the oldest child of 6, to Menno and Cassie Schweitzer. As a youngster, Alverta accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized in the Mennonite Church in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska.

Alverta married Kenneth Eichelberger, January 12, 1941 and to this union were born 3 children. In 1955, they moved to Idaho and have spent most of their lives in the Buhl area.

Alverta was house keeping supervisor at Harral's's Nursing Home for 25 years and made many lifetime friends during that time.

Alverta loved to go camping. However, the more family that could be with her the more enjoyment she took from life. Big family gatherings were her passion. She loved when visitors came from out of state, since that gave her a good excuse to get everyone together. Christmas Eve was the highlight of her year as she expected all the family to gather for the evening to laugh and enjoy her famous oyster soup.

She is survived by the love of her life of 73 years, Kenneth Eichelberger; daughter, Sharon Hildreth of Buhl; sons, Gary (Shirley) and Kent (Tamara); 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings and their spouses; son-in-law, Robert Hildreth and grandson Alan Eichelberger.

The celebration of Alverta's life will include visitation from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 11 at Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the Filer Mennonite Church. Interment to follow services at the West End Cemetery in Buhl. A fellowship meal will follow interment at the Filer Mennonite Church.

The family would like to thank Hospice Visions for the excellent care during Alverta's last days. Memorial donations in Alverta's name can be made to Hospice Visions, Twin Falls.
