Arend “Harry” Petter, 76, of Twin Falls, passed away July 14, 2024. He was born on February 29, 1948, in Artesia, California, to John and Ruth Petter. Harry was born one of a set of identical triplets, along with his brothers, John and Jack.
Harry graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1967, while also working on the family dairy. While in high school, He received a Letter in wrestling and ran intramural track.
Harry was drafted to the United States Army in 1968 and served two years. While on leave, he married his high school sweetheart, Henrietta “Hank” Verdoes (Schmitt). Although they divorced, they have remained lifelong friends. Together they had two children, Alan and Angie.
Harry spent time in Germany, and one of the highlights of his military career was to serve as an Honor Guard when President Eisenhower was buried in Abilene, Kansas.
In the 70’s and 80’s the family dairy farmed in Hamilton, Washington, and in 1990 Harry moved to Idaho where he worked on his brother Jack’s dairy. Later, he worked at Pet Food for 5 years and eventually, he began his truck driving career with Farm Fresh of Jerome, Idaho, until his retirement.
Harry has two wonderful grandchildren, Kaylee Petter and Samuel Beech, and they will miss his sense of humor and his big bear hugs.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph Petter and John Petter; nephew, Rob Petter; and brother-in-law, Dick Verdoes.
He is survived by his children, Alan Petter of Merced, California, and Angie (David) Beech of Sedro Woolley, Washington; brothers, Jack (Tena) Petter of Filer, Idaho, and Gerhart (Eynon) Petter of Ontario, California; precious grandchildren, Kaylee Petter, Samuel Beech, and Seth (Adrian) Beech; and nieces, Jennifer Yost, Rachael Hunsaker, Sarah Warhol, and Rebecca Petter.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Farmer Funeral Chapel, 130 9th Ave N, Buhl. Burial will conclude with Military Honors at the Snake River Canyon National Cemetery, 1575 E Elm St, Buhl.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Harry’s name to the Mustard Seed Food Pantry, or your favorite charity.
