BUHL

Austin “A.C.” Stout, also known as Ace, passed away November 28, 2023. He was born December 31, 1934, in Saffell, Arkansas to Austin C Stout and Hester Lee Hennessee. A.C. spent his adult career in Winterhaven, California, and Yuma, Arizona. He retired as a Hydroelectric plant operator for the Imperial Irrigation District.

A.C. married Shirley Sims, and they had 3 children, Nita, Tom, and Patricia. They were married for 10 years.

Several years later he met Gladys Evans, and they married in 1973 where he gained 3 more children. A.C. became good friends with his in-laws, Glenn and Linda McMurdie, with whom he spent many hours rock hunting in Southwest Arizona and Northern Mexico. They were particularly fond of fire agates and A.C. Became proficient at cutting, grinding, and polishing the multi-colored semi-precious stones.

A.C. spent most Sunday evenings with his stepson and his wife (Kenny and Linda) and their five children. The Evans kids grew up with Grandpa A.C. Being the only grandpa they knew and loved. Grandpa A.C. Took them hunting and camping and taught the boys many things such as driving and gun safety.
After the passing of Gladys in 1995, A.C. moved to Buhl to be closer to his family. In 2000 he married Dixie Bahr and inherited 4 more children. They loved being rockhounds and were active in local rock clubs where A.C. was president. Tom moved to Buhl in 2004 to be closer to his dad.

A.C. loved watching old black and white westerns over and over again and chewing on toothpicks. He loved going hunting with his son Tom and his family and loved playing poker every Friday night at his sister-in-law Kerin's home. He loved going to Jackpot with his good friend and neighbor, Bob Fields, and their friends. He also enjoyed playing pinochle every Thursday with other friends.

A.C. lost his loving Wife Dixie in 2014. He continued to play cards and met a lovely lady, Irene Cristiansen. They remained friends until the end.

A.C. was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone and was a friend to all.
