Brent Smith

November 4, 1952 — August 24, 2015

Brent J. Smith, 62, of Hagerman, Idaho passed away of natural causes on August 25, 2015 in his home. Brent was born on Nov. 4, 1952 in Jerome, Idaho to Maurice "Mutt" Smith and Jane Lavonne "Bonnie" Petersen. Both parents preceded him in death.

Brent graduated from Hagerman High School in 1971 and then attended Barber College in Boise. After graduating from college, Brent opened a barber shop in Hagerman and operated it for several years.

In addition to hair styling, Brent had many other different careers including farming and house painting. He was married to Mona for a short time.

Brent was passionate about fishing and loved to take his boat and dog, Sam, to C.J. Strike Reservoir. In recent years, Brent loved fishing with his brother, Kevin, in Alaska. Brent said those were trips of a lifetime. In addition to landing Alaskan Salmon, Brent also loved sturgeon fishing on the Snake River.

Brent's other hobbies included: playing pool, poker, raising watermelons, tying flies and playing piano.

Brent was a courageous man with a HUGE heart. He would give the shirt off his back for a friend in need.

Brent had many nieces and nephews whom he loved with all his heart. They will all miss his laughter and smile.

Brent is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Smith and Andrea Degler; brothers, Jeff Smith, Kevin Degler, Chris Degler, numerous nieces/nephews and his dog, Sam.

Services will be held at Calvary Chapel in Hagerman on Saturday (8/29/15) at 11 a.m. with burial following at the Hagerman Cemetery.
