Cassidee Kippes

Cassidee Evelyn Kippes, our dear sweet angel, left this earth on Sunday, April 8, 2018, in a tragic car accident. She was only 23 years old.

Cassidee was born on June 12, 1994 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Joseph H. and Berdena Kippes of Buhl, the youngest of five children. She was a lifelong resident of Buhl, attending school and excelling at sports throughout grade school, middle school, and high school. She graduated from Buhl High School in 2012. Cassidee was passionate about sports, excelling at softball, volleyball, and basketball. She was an intimidating force on the mound as well as at the plate. She once hit three home runs in a single game, including a walk off shot for the win. In basketball, she was always asked to guard the most difficult opponents. In volleyball, she was the “quarterback” trusted to lead her team by touching the ball on every play. Cassidee’s teammates looked to her for leadership. She was the glue that held them together. Her father proudly gave her the nickname of Killer (half Kippes, half Miller---Killer).

Cassidee grew up on the farm, her wonderland of joy, her favorite place. She loved the farms, especially Docs and the Point. She worked alongside her family on the farm, developing a remarkable work ethic while picking rock, irrigating crops, and operating tractors. She could run anything with wheels, becoming especially great at swathing and raking. She was a legendary operator in the neighborhood, known for her skill. She was great because she enjoyed completing a job well done. Customers often preferred her over her father, her Dad said it was because of her looks, but it was because she was the best around.

Cassidee grew up a proud Vandal, attending Vandal tail gates long before she attended school there. There was no question in her mind that she would continue her education at the University of Idaho. She graduated in 2016 from the U of I with a degree in Agriculture Business. These were the finest days of her life participating in intramural sports and living life to its fullest. While at the U of I, she joined her second family as an Alpha Gamma Delta, becoming a Big Sister for the first time and making countless lifelong friends. In Moscow, she met the love of her life, Quinn Cummings, who has become important part of the Kippes family, like a son.

After graduation, she immediately began a promising career in agri-business, taking a job as a crop advisor in Pomeroy, Wash., for Crop Production Services. She returned to her home in early 2018 to begin a job as a team leader at Lamb Weston in Twin Falls. She was beginning to make her home near Buhl, buying into the family cow herd and preparing for the next step of life with her boyfriend, Quinn.

Cassidee had an infectious laugh and a smile to match. Cassidee loved and cherished her family. Her brothers were her “heroes.” Her sisters were her best friends. She adored her nephews and nieces. Her family will most miss her presence at the dinner table, kicking butt at board games, kneeboarding on the river, or playing sports in the back yard – laughing with joy and scowling with intimidation. She was known by many for her ability to write a funny and sarcastic Christmas letter or a make a striking comment with her perfect sarcastic humor.

She developed a passion for hunting ducks with her father. She enjoyed years of hunting with family at the secret spot. She was in the process of training a new golden retriever puppy, Boomer, and was excited for the next season. With Boomer and her Beretta, she would outhunt the boys.
Cassidee was a saint sent to us for short time and we will miss her EVERY DAY for the rest of our lives. The family will gather strength from the fact that we were allowed have her with us, make awesome memories, and love her for that short time.

Cassidee is survived by her parents Joe and Berdena (Miller) Kippes of Buhl; siblings Melissa Kippes (Nathan Jerke), Douglas Kippes (Desi), Danielle Jones (Kyle), J.R. Kippes (Kasidee); grandmother Betty Kippes; nephews and nieces J.D., Conrad, Abel, Eli, Henry, Logan, Sam, Lucy, Hadi, Kylie, and Zeke; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; her love, Quinn Cummings, and her puppy Boomer.

A funeral is being held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14 at the Seventh Street Gym in Buhl. Attendees are encouraged to wear Vandal gear. A reception will be held following the service at the Buhl Catholic Church. Following the reception, that evening, the family will host a Vandal Bonfire Wake at the farm to celebrate like Cassidee would have wanted and all are invited and encouraged to attend. A private interment will be held at a later date.
