Clara Coley

January 26, 1914 — December 25, 2012

Heaven welcomed a beautiful angel Christmas day. Clara Coley, 98, of Buhl passed away Tuesday Dec. 25th, 2012.
Clara was born on January 26, 1914 in the small town of Paradise, Utah to Joseph K. and Sarah Amelia McMurdie. She spent most of her childhood in Paradise where she met her husband Ivan Coley in grade school. Clara moved to Idaho in 1928 and Ivan followed her hitch-hiking from Utah to be with his love. Clara & Ivan were married by Bishop Hunt on Oct. 22, 1930 and they were sealed for all time and eternity in the Logan Temple in Feb. of 1932. They survived the great depression through long struggles and hard times eventually buying a 160 acre farm in Melon Valley in Buhl. In 1961, they sold the farm and bought 5 acres on the outskirts of Buhl where they lived for the next 36 years.
Clara dedicated her life to love and care for her family and friends. Even into her late 60's she was known to outrun her grandchildren. Clara's grandchildren were a huge part of her life and each of them spent many nights with her and their grandpa on the farm, and sometimes even weeks during the summer months. She loved to quilt, making beautiful blankets and rugs out of seemingly useless fabric. She worked hard at many jobs throughout her life-too many to mention here.
She is survived by her two daughters: Sara Colleen (Melvin) Todd, and Clarene RaNae (Lionel) Harms; 5 grandchildren: Danny Todd, Terry Todd-Drennan, Rick Todd, Alisa Harms-Bowman and Nichol Harms-Black; 13 great grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Carroll McMurdie. She was preceded in death by 10 siblings including her twin brother Clarence who died at 5 years old, a son Bud, another son at birth, husband Ivan, and a great granddaughter Rebecca Drennan. Clara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her
In celebration of her life and all those she touched, friends and family are invited to attend her viewing at the Farmers Funeral Chapel in Buhl, Idaho on Thursday evening January 3rd at 5:00-7:00 p.m. and again 1 hour before the funeral on Friday, January 4th at 10:00 a.m. with services to follow at 11:00a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Buhl 3rd Ward building on Fair Street. Arrangements are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Chapel of Buhl.
Clara had a love for animals and for her last pet dog, Patches. She also had an amazing talent in teaching them to do tricks and she even taught her parakeets to talk. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations to the Home Again Animal Shelter, 702 Hwy. 30, Buhl, Idaho, 83316.
