Constantine "Dino " Constantinides, 91, went home to be with Jesus his Lord and Savior on September 19, 2024. He confessed his belief in Jesus in 2005. One month short of his 92nd birthday, we nicknamed him “Dino the Dinosaur” because he lived a long, full life.
Dino was born in Piraeus, Greece on October 18, 1932, to Spiros and Eleni Constantinides. He talked about growing up in Greece during World War II and how, as a young boy, he would go fishing to bring back food for his parents and neighbors. He also told me about when Greece was being bombed and how he would go into the bomb shelters. He told me he was separated from his parents during one of those bombings and that an angel helped him get to safety. He told me how he couldn't hear as well after those loud bombs went off nearby.
Dino was fond of his grandmother whom he stayed with a lot while his parents traveled. During his middle school years, he and his parents came over on a big ship to New York City to live. He went to middle school and high school in the United States.
He attended college for a couple of years and met our mother, Sylvia, and they got married. They lived in Bronx, New York. Soon afterwards, he enlisted in the Army and moved his way up to Sergeant. He served from January 16, 1953- December 15, 1954 and received an honorable discharge from active duty.
On May 28, 1956, their daughter, Laura Lee Constantinides, was born and on March 6, 1960, their son, Dino Anthony Constantinides was born. In 1961 Dino and Sylvia moved to Fairfield, CT and bought their first home. Dino worked at Peabody Engineering as a Project Manager in the Combustion Equipment Division in Stanford, CT.
They divorced after 14 years and he later married Rose Constantinides and they moved to back to Greece. Rose passed away with breast cancer several years later.
After Rose passed away, he returned to the United States in 2000 to live with his daughter, Laura and her family in Jackson, WY. He really got to know her husband Ron, and helped raise their four children. It was really special to have a multi-generational influence. His son, Dino, came out often and we all became closer over all those years.
January of 2019, Dino moved to an assisted living facility in Kona, Hawaii. He really enjoyed being in Hawaii next to the ocean. Then, in Dec 2021, he moved to Twin Falls, Idaho to a memory care facility.
Dino loved to work, even in his retirement years. He worked at Miller Park Lodge in Jackson, Wyoming for several years. Dino always had a good story to share with anyone who would listen. He was the life of every party. He taught us the unconditional love of a father and grandfather and great grandfather. He was always proud of his children. He slowly lost his memory from Dementia but always kissed me goodbye until the very end of his time on earth.
Dino was preceded by death by his parents, Spiros and Eleni Constantinides; and his wife, Rose Constantinides.
Dino is survived by his daughter, Laura Constantinides Miller (Ronald); son, Dino Anthony Constantinides (Trisha); grandchildren, Valari Burnett (Jon), Crystal Ellett (Andrew), Ronnie Miller, and Katelyn Kartes (Jacob); cousin, Stella Gournari-Roussi (Mikey); and 10 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00pm, Friday, September 27, 2023, at White Arrow Ranch, 1061 Clover Creek Road, Bliss Idaho.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Dino’s memorial webpage at www.farmerfuneralchapel.com.
