Darla Dee McCallister (Chandler) was born on June 24th of 1964 to David and Jewel (Stallings) Chandler in Twin Falls, Idaho.
When she was 16 years old, while attending O’leary Junior High School, she met and started to date the man she would eventually marry, have a family with, and share her life with. On May 21, 1983, she married Dirk McCallister and on December 23, 1983, they welcomed their son, Dustin, into the world.
In 1989, she started her journey working in insurance with State Farm and in December of 2024, she celebrated 35 years with them. The last 12 years of that time she worked with Matt Stokes.
In 2003, along with her husband and son, she purchased Sunset Bowl in Buhl and turned their passion and love of bowling into a livelihood. Most evenings, even when she wasn’t bowling, she was still there, doing the books, helping Dirk work on the lanes, or just hanging out with the bowlers. Over the many years at the bowling alley, Darla had the pleasure of welcoming and holding many babies and continued to be a part of those little lives as they grew up.
Darla actively bowled in a Women’s League, two mixed leagues, and on a Travel league. She continually represented her bowling abilities at state tournaments and Women’s High Five. She was a part of the Idaho State Gutter Gussies for many years as well.
During the summers, if she wasn’t working, she talked Dirk into taking her golfing.
Darla passed away on July 21, 2026 in Boise, Idaho, at the age of 62. She will forever be remember by those that she shared her life with.
Darla is survived by her dear husband, Dirk and loving son, Dustin; her parents, David and Jewel and her sisters, Debbie and Cheri.
A memorial service, remembering the life of Darla, will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at West End Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
