David Charles Bremers

Dec 2, 1947 — Sep 7, 2026

BUHL

David Bremers was born on December 2, 1947, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Charles and Margaret Bremers. David passed away on September 7, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.

David was the only son in a family of four children, with three sisters. He attended school in Castleford through the third grade before transferring to Buhl High School, where he graduated in 1967.

During his younger years, David lived on a farm in Castleford before eventually settling in Buhl. He was active in FFA and 4-H, competed in barrel racing, football, and wrestling, and held class offices throughout high school. From a young age and throughout his life, there was always an animal to care for—dogs, cats, cows, and horses—whether they were beloved pets or animals he raised and showed.

After high school, David proudly served in the National Guard for 7 years. During the Vietnam War, he remained on standby but was never deployed.

David was a dedicated member of the Buhl Fire Department for more than 30 years, serving his community with commitment and pride. Dave and his blue pickup were a familiar sight around Buhl, often accompanied by his devoted dog, Dixie, who became almost as well known around town as Dave himself.

David married his first wife, Rita, in 1968. Together they built their family and raised their two children, Brad and Michelle. In 1986, David and Rita purchased the Arctic Circle in Buhl. David owned and managed the business for 21 years before eventually selling it in the summer of 2007. During those years, he became known not only as a hardworking business owner, but as someone who cared about the people who worked for him. There are many stories of the small acts of kindness he showed to his employees and members of the community. He was a role model to many and worked hard to instill a strong work ethic in all of those who worked for him.

Rita passed away in 1997. In November of that same year, David began his relationship with Barbara, and together they began blending two families. David became an instant father to all five children, offering advice, encouragement, and lessons in hard work and responsibility.

David and Barbara spent nearly 29 years together, building a life filled with family, travel, camping, and plenty of dogs who were thoroughly spoiled. They enjoyed traveling and camping and spent their winters in Quartzsite, Arizona.

Friendship was also an important part of David’s life. He and Barbara shared many wonderful memories with their close friends, Sean and Anna Knutz. After Sean and Anna purchased property in Pine, Idaho, the two families spent nearly every weekend together camping, riding 4-wheelers and later, Razors, and pontooning at Anderson Ranch Reservoir. These weekends became treasured memories filled with friendship, adventure, laughter, and time spent together.

David was known by many names throughout his life—Dave, Big Dave, Pa, Papa Bremers, and Grandpa Dave. Each name reflected a different relationship and a different part of the man he was to the people who loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bremers; his sister, Shirley Bengochea; his children, Brad (Carole) Bremers, Michelle Brewer, Stacie (Brian) Darrow, Josh (Amanda) Weaver, and Lanie (Kenton) Beckstead; and his grandchildren, Brooke (Joe) Lage, Tate (Katie) Bremers, Brenlee (Ethan) Bremers, TJ Brewer, Hunter Brewer, Luke (Hannah) Kaes, Claira Darrow, Isaac (Kennedy) Weaver, Ivaan Weaver, Braitton Beckstead, Elijah Beckstead, Samuel Beckstead, and Marinda Beckstead, along with great grandchildren, Oliver, Noralynn, Kooper, and Marlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret Bremers; two sisters; his first wife, Rita Bremers; and his grandson, Jake Kaes.
