Dirk Kunz

August 5, 1981 — April 27, 2013

We are sad to announce the passing of Dirk Kunz this past weekend.

Dirk Ian Kunz was killed in a horse riding accident April 27, 2013 doing what he loved. He is survived by his wife Angela; four children, K.D., Clayton, Cole, and Russell of Buhl; parents, Ian and Verla Kunz of Gooding; brothers, Sean Kunz of Twin Falls, Eric Kunz of Provo, Ut. and a sister, Alicia (Dex) Tiggs of Gooding.

Dirk was born August 5th 1981 in Montpelier, ID to Ian and Verla Kunz. Before he was three years old he was introduced to horses while the family lived and worked on a horse ranch. From then on, horses and the ranching way of life were always in the back of his mind.

While growing up in Gooding, Idaho, Dirk spent most of his time caring for and raising animals of one sort or another. Always industrious, Dirk let his love for animals drive him to learn what he needed to do to care for each type of critter and was even able to earn income from his endeavors'.

After returning from an LDS Mission to Macon, Georgia Dirk pursued equine studies at the College of Southern Idaho where he met his Bride, Angela Barnes.
They married March 21, 2003 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Dirk worked a multitude of jobs to support his family while still pursuing a dream of owning a ranch and horse training business. Ever busy, he served diligently in his ward as membership clerk. He obtained a degree in accounting and worked at Cooper Norman during tax season. Later he joined the National Guard as an officer candidate.

In the last ten years they were blessed with four intelligent and adorable children. As each has grown they have learned from Dirk's work ethic and have been a source of help and support to their mother.

A hard worker and good friend, Dirk spent almost as much time helping out other people as he did with his own responsibilities. As a result, there are few people in the valley that don't know Dirk as a very good friend. His impact on the community is significant and his leaving is far too soon.
