Earl McCoy

Earl L. McCoy, 90, of Buhl, passed away April 13, 2014 at Bridgeview Estates in Twin Falls.

Earl was born July 12, 1923 in Ketchum, Idaho to Arnold and Mable McCoy. He grew up and attended schools in the Wood River valley. When duty called, Earl joined the Army Air Corps and honorably served in World War II. He was trained to fly fighter airplanes, including the P-51 Mustang which he loved and talked about through the rest of his life.

When the war ended Earl returned to Ketchum. He married Mavis Heimbecker on April 3, 1946. Earl worked at various jobs in and around Ketchum including mining, logging, ski instructing for Sun Valley and the U.S. Forest Service, from which he retired.

Earl was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish. He tied his own flies and reloaded ammo. He and Mavis loved to bowl and enjoyed being involved in local bowling leagues. Earl was friendly and well liked by people who knew him. He loved and was loved by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis; daughter, Paulette McKenzie; sister, Barbara Blackstein and brother, Alvin McCoy.

He is survived by a sister, Betty Pigg of Gooding; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at the Ketchum Cemetery.
