1953 ~ 2017

Gene was born on October 24, 1953, in Kansas, to Donald and Marjorie Porter. He was called home on August 23, 2017, by our Heavenly Father.

Early in life, Gene moved with his family to a farm in Rupert, Idaho and then later, to Buhl, where he graduated high school with honors. He later went on to earn associate degrees. Gene had a big heart for strangers and would give them anything if he thought they needed it more than himself.

Gene was a wanderer, traveling to many different states. His latest travels took him to Arizona, Texas, and now to Heaven.

Gene is survived by his daughters, Heather and Megan; grandson, River Jo; siblings, Larry, Bill (Carma) and Janice, as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother-in-law, Wade Schorzman.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl, Idaho. Interment will follow the service at West End Cemetery.
