Grace V. Madalena, 90, of Buhl, passed away July 28, 2013 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Hospital in Twin Falls, while surrounded by her family.
Grace was born February 21, 1923 in Filer, Idaho to William and Armania Bean. She attended schools in West Point and Wendell. In 1939 she married Joseph "John" Madalena and they made their home on a farm South of Wendell. Together they had six children. After retirement Grace wanted to move into town and dragged John with her to a house in Buhl. John passed in 1998 and Grace continued to live in Buhl until her death.
She was a life long member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic church and a member of the Catholic Women's league. She was a member of the West Point Ladies Club. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling, including a life list trip to Rome and the Vatican. Above all she enjoyed being a Mom and Grandma to her kids and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; five brothers; three sisters; son-in-law, Gary B. Rupert and daughter-in-law, Veronica Madalena.
She is survived by sons, Michael (Ronna) Madalena of Wendell, Tony (Carlene) Madalena of Filer, Joseph (Jeri) Madalena of Wendell; daughters, Patricia (Ray) Carpenter of Omaha, Neb., Katherine Rupert of Boise, Teresa (Don) Osterhoudt of Caldwell; 16 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be 11 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Buhl. A rosary will be 7 p.m. Wed., July 31 at the Church. Interment will follow the Mass at West End Cemetery in Buhl. Arrangements are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl.
