Irma Haley

July 9, 1920 — October 28, 2013

Irma Ione Haley, daughter of Henry W. Lehman and Iva I. Kendrick, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 28, 2013 in Twin Falls, Idaho. At age 93, she died peacefully with loved ones by her side.
Irma was born and raised in Buhl, Idaho, where she graduated from Buhl High School prior to attending Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. There she met her future husband, J. Roy Haley, to whom she was married for 70 years. After three children, she attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho where she earned her degree in education and began teaching home economics at Castleford High School. She later earned a Master's Degree at the University of Idaho and subsequently retired as an educator after teaching for 15 years.
Irma was a master gardener, has written and published three "Unbearably Delicious" cook books, was an award-winning cook and baker, was a member of the Grandmother's Club of Castleford, and was active in the Castleford Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher, a pianist and a lay leader. She was later a member of the Buhl Baptist Church, and more recently the Twin Falls First Baptist Church.
Irma is survived by her sister, Edna Williams of Newberg, Oregon; daughter, Carolyn R. Lankford of Scottsdale, Arizona; son, Terryl R. Haley of Wendover, Nevada; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, J. Roy Haley of Castleford, Idaho; daughter Rebecca S. Haley of Tacoma, Washington; sister Norma Hicks of Buhl, Idaho; brother Cornell Lehman of Boise, Idaho; and granddaughters Kami Haley of Castleford, Idaho and Jeanese Nelson of Tacoma, Washington.
A service celebrating Irma's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 4, at the Buhl Baptist Church, 400 Ninth Avenue N. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Castleford, Buhl or Twin Falls Baptist churches. Arrangements are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Chapel of Buhl, Idaho.
