JIMMY “JIM” R. HUDSON
October 10, 1943 ~ August 15, 2025
JIMMY “Jim” R. HUDSON, passed away on August 15, 2025, at the age of 81 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Jim was born in Buhl, Idaho, on October 10, 1943.
He graduated from Castleford High School in 1962. In 1969, Jim met Shirley Newberry in Twin Falls and they were married in 1970, almost reaching their 55th anniversary. Their first son, Jamie, was born in 1973 (without breath). Several years later their son, Thomas, was born, followed 19 months later by their daughter, Karen. Although not so inclined to change a diaper, Jim was a hands-on father and enjoyed teaching Tom and Karen to hunt, fish, build a campfire and enjoy the great outdoors. When Karen and Chuck married and gave us two grandsons, he was able to start all over again. Until his memory began to fade, family was his greatest joy. We are grateful for the many, many memories we share.
Jim drove long-haul in his younger years, then settled down to a life of farming, working in the harvest for Bower Chopping, Circle A Construction and for 28+ years he was employed by the Buhl Highway District, retiring nearly 20 years ago. He always commented “retirement” was the best word in our language. He loved to fish, hunt, garden, camp and anything outdoors, especially with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Tom; daughter Karen (Chuck) Drown and grandsons, Orlo and Holton. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Luciel Hudson; in-laws, Floy and Thelma Newberry; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Whitey Jones and his infant son, Jamie Hudson.
Our family would like to thank the management, staff, and residents at Ashley Manor Memory Care in Twin Falls for the excellent care and love they showed Jim this past month as he slowly left us.
A Celebration of Life (definitely not a funeral, he had strong feelings about funerals) will be held Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 12 pm to 3 pm at The Sage Center on 200 8th Ave N, Buhl, ID. Instead of flowers or a donation, our family would suggest you pack a picnic lunch (best if it’s fried chicken) and take a family drive to the mountains, lake or wherever you find happiness and count your many blessings.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Jim's memorial webpage at www.farmerfuneralchapel.com.
