BUHL

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Mitchel “Mitch” Pew, who passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2026, at the age of 58.

Mitch was born on April 8, 1968, to John and Sharon Pew. He was a devoted son, a loving brother to Carma (Randy) Sobotka and Ralph (Mitzie) Crown, honored nephew to Margie Cooper, Eathel (Dean) Jessup, Gaylord (Bunny) Eggleston, Rick (Cheryl) Egglestson, Corol (Bob) Deisher, and a proud uncle, great-uncle, cousin, and friend whose love and kindness touched countless lives.

A lifelong Idahoan, Mitch graduated from Filer High School in 1988. Although he faced many challenges throughout his younger years – including spending time in a burn unit after a serious accident and later surviving a hunting accident – he never let those hardships define him. Instead, they shaped the resilient, compassionate, and determined man everyone came to know and love.

Mitch was an avid fisherman and hunter who found peace and joy in the outdoors. Whether he was casting a line, tracking game, or simply enjoying nature, he felt most at home outside.

Throughout his life, Mitch held many jobs, but the role that meant the most to him was caring for his parents. He faithfully devoted himself to their care during times when they needed him most, giving of himself without hesitation or expectation. His selflessness and unwavering love were among his greatest gifts.

To those who knew him, Mitch was simply “Johnny on the Spot”. If someone needed help, he was there. He was always willing to lend a hand, teach a new skill, or share his knowledge. Whether he was patiently showing someone how to skin their first deer without cutting themselves, helping track down a wounded animal, or teaching a young bowler how to throw a wicked curveball during bowling league, Mitch found joy in helping others succeed. He had a generous heart and quietly made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Mitch was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alice and Ralph Eggleston and Ollie and John Pew, as well as his father, John “Junior” Pew.

He is lovingly survived by his mother, Sharon Pew; his sister, Carma (Randy) Sobotka; his brother, Ralph (Mitzie) Crown, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the countless memories he gave us. Mitch’s kindness, humor, willingness to help anyone in need, and deep love for his family will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the lives he touched, and the love he shared so freely.

Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Mitch’s memorial website at www.farmerfuneralchapel.com.
