Joyce F. Grindstaff, a beloved member of the Buhl community, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 at the age of 82. She was surrounded by loved ones and will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Born April 3, 1941, in Pocatello, Idaho, Joyce experienced a fulfilling life. She was a remarkable woman who cherished her family and embraced every moment with zest and enthusiasm. Joyce had an insatiable desire to be on the go, often spending time with her loved ones. She made it a point to attend any public sporting events or performances of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.
Joyce enjoyed traveling and spent winters in Arizona where she found solace in the warm sunshine. Her love for shopping and planting flowers brought beauty into her world, and she shared that beauty with those around her.
Among Joyce's passions were tole painting and golfing. She created various pieces with intricate designs through tole painting. And when it came to golfing, Joyce found it a hobby she excelled at.
In addition to these pursuits, Joyce actively participated in organizations that were close to her heart. She was an engaged member of the Magic Valley Decorative Artists, exhibiting not only her artistic abilities but also forming deep connections within the community. Joyce also contributed to causes she believed in as an active member of Republican Women. Her commitment to politics was admirable and inspiring. Furthermore, she found kinship and friendship through her involvement in The Red Hat Society, celebrating life and sisterhood with like-minded individuals.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Feran "Bud" Burris Johnson and Florence "Flossey" Jean (Blair) Calhoun; as well as her beloved husband of 49 years, Gary Grindstaff, who passed away in 2019. She also mourned the loss of her son, Robert "Bobby" Clayton Jr., at the tender age of 18 months, as well as her brother, Richard Johnson, who was taken from this world too soon at just 10 years old. The void left by their departure will forever be felt but memories of their shared love and cherished moments will continue to live on.
Although Joyce's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her memory will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her loving son Terry (Brenda) Clayton of Woodburn, OR; her devoted daughter, Melody (John) Cameron of Twin Falls, ID; and step-children, Cally Roach, Will Grindstaff, and David Grindstaff. Joyce also leaves behind her brothers, Jan (Jami) Johnson of Dayton, NV, and Bill (Opal) Svancara of W. Richland, WA.
Her legacy extends to her adored grandchildren, Tyrel Rarick, Brenda (Stacy) Randell, Corinne (Shawn) Anthoney, Alexis Clayton, Stephen (Samantha) Parrott, Kathryn (Tim) Porter, Claire (George) Harris, and Walker Grindstaff. Their lives have been forever enriched by the love, wisdom, and guidance she bestowed upon them. Additionally, Joyce leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Joyce's life will be held at 11am, Friday, December 29, 2023, at Farmer Funeral Chapel, 130 9th Ave N, Buhl, ID 83316. All friends and family are welcome to attend this moment of remembrance and reflection.
