Judy "Jude" Greif

October 7, 1954 — January 18, 2023

HAGERMAN

On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, Judy Kay Greif, 68, passed away at home due to unexpected, congestive heart failure. Judy was born on October 7, 1954 in Reno, Nevada.

She was just shy of celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband, Joe Greif. She and Joe met while students at Boise State University.  After they were married in 1974, they traveled to Europe together, serving as missionaries for YWAM, and also ran a coffeehouse ministry in Wiesbaden. Judy had a passion for helping young children in her early married years and she and Joe were involved in establishing children's ministries at various churches. She had a Kindermusik business and taught piano.

After moving to Hagerman, Idaho in 2012, Judy played the piano for churches in need of a pianist for leading worship services. In 2017, her next and wonderful adventure was founding the Thrift Barn in Hagerman by seeking out sponsors and others willing to donate. The proceeds from the Thrift Barn went to the local food bank, Helping Hands. She loved meeting new people and took time to listen to their stories and offer her help in the ways that she could.

One of her favorite things was finding "God moments" every day and sharing them with others. Nana, as her grandkids fondly called her, loved finding treasures for them, playing games, and just talking with them.  She loved to swim, take walks, and be healthy.  Her whole desire in life was to help and serve others. She will be greatly missed by family, friends, and the community of Hagerman.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Teipner.  She is survived by her husband, Joseph Greif; her sister, Phyllis Pike; her daughter, Maria (Joshua) Aldinger; her son, Jonathan (Laura) Greif; as well as her five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at First Christian Church, 1005 Poplar St. Buhl. A graveside service will conclude at West End Cemetery.
