Karalee Shaw

Karalee, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, teacher, and friend to many, suddenly passed away February 25, 2024, at the age of 73.

Karalee was born into this world July 20, 1950, to parents Bill and Ruth Wardell. She was raised in Walnut Creek, California, and later moved to Mt. Shasta, California, where she lived until moving to Idaho about 5 years ago.

Karalee was an active member in her church and enjoyed the companionship brought by the church community and her faith in the Lord.

Karalee had a love of animals, specifically horses and dogs. Her love of horses stemmed from her dad and mom raising Arabian horses. She enjoyed fishing in the river and trying to get the biggest trout, or at least taking in the scenery if she had no luck. She also enjoyed gardening her flowers, and planting and harvesting vegetables and fruits. She turned her labor of love into jams, sauces, and canned fruits.

Karalee was a dental assistant before becoming a childcare teacher and retired in 2018 after 30+ years. She was able to shape the minds of many children and was well known as "Teacher Karalee."

She was the most kind, caring, and hardworking person and will carry on in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know her. Words cannot describe how greatly she will be missed. 

Karalee is survived by her daughter, Jessica Berendonk; sons, Jami and Dustin Ponte; and beloved grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Karalee and will be announced at a later date.
