Larry Francis

February 24, 1941 — January 20, 2014

Larry Francis, 72, of Buhl, passed away Monday, January 20th, 2014 at his home after a lengthy battle with cardiovascular disease.
Larry was born February 24, 1941 to Pete and Marjorie (Mullins) Francis in Buhl, Idaho. Larry graduated as a student-athlete from Buhl High School competing in both basketball and football. On September 2, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Van Zante, and they recently celebrated their 52nd anniversary.
Larry joined the trucking business hauling railroad ties and lumber with his "Pappy" and eventually went on to run the business. Based upon his reputation of hard-work, integrity, down-to-earth common sense and honesty, he began a 22-year adventure as the manager of the Clear Lake Country Club in 1975. Larry thoroughly enjoyed working to develop the club over the years- he never knew a stranger and had innumerous friendships to show for it. He also loved sharing his passion for the game and was recognized high school "Coach of the Year" on multiple occasions. Whether it be golfing, hunting, fishing, or camping, he truly loved the outdoors in particular the Owyhee Desert. He was always his daughter and grandchildren's biggest fan no matter what sport or activity they pursued and always took great pride in his family.
Larry is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Sherry Francis (Rob) Juker; grandchildren, Jordin and Macey Juker; siblings, Norma Brown, Jim (Carol) Francis and Carolee (Rick) Dykes; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Dick and Pat Van Zante and Mary and Terry Sisson; and many nephews and nieces.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25th, 2014 at the LDS Church on Main St. in Buhl. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held at Clear Lake Country Club for those who would like to attend. Arrangements are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be sent to Buhl Quick Response Unit, 201 Broadway Avenue North Buhl, ID 83316, or St. Luke's Health Foundation, Heart Services, 190 E. Bannock St. Boise, ID 83712.
