Laura Hunt

October 31, 1933 — July 12, 2016

BUHL - Laura Lee Nelson Hunt was born on Halloween, Oct 31, 1933 at the family home in Dietrich, Idaho, to Bertran Lavell and Iva Pearl Hansen Nelson. She had two older sisters and a brother and was joined by two younger sisters. Her growing up years were spent in Wendell and Gooding, then in Buhl, when the family moved there in 1948.

Laura graduated from Buhl High School in 1951. She worked at Valley Tractor following graduation and for several months after her marriage to Fay Hunt, Nov. 13, 1951, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. She treasured their eternal relationship. With the marriage she inherited six step-children. Laura received a longed for blessing when their son, Jeffrey Lee Hunt, was born in 1957. Family was important to her and always felt welcome in her home.

She cared for and canned produce from a large garden and orchard, at the same time she worked the corn pack at Green Giant and was an Avon lady. She enjoyed the life-long friendships she made with her clients.

Laura was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She shared her lovely voice in choirs, singing solos and directing congregational hymns. Her testimony was important and she shared it often. She included it in copies of the Book of Mormon she gave to her doctor and several care givers.

The family would like to thank the kind and loving care-givers at River Ridge and Twin Falls Care Center who met her needs during the last 5 plus years. They became friends.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Fay, in 1986, her parents, a sister, Norma and her husband, Ellwood Penrod, a brother, Wayne, and a brother-in-law, Blaine Shaffer, a step-son, Richard, and two step-daughters, Dixie and her husband, Darwin Smith, and Helen.

She is survived by three sisters, Verna (Neil) Darrington, Veda (Hyrum) Auger, and Rena Crockett, a sister-in-law, Veda Nelson; 24 nieces and nephews, son, Jeff (Kathy) Hunt, their four children and twelve grandchildren, a step-daughter, Pauline (Larry) Bigler, two step-sons, Howard (Edith) Hunt, and Duane (Margaret) Hunt, and a step son-in-law, Larry Anderson; 41 grandchildren, 146 great-grandchildren and 120 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in the Thousand Springs Ward, 501 Main St. in Buhl, with a viewing from 12-12:45 in the Cultural Hall. Interment will follow at the West End Cemetery in Buhl.
