Leroy Raymond Jazwick was born on September 10, 1931, to Leo Michael Jazwick and Rose Ann Brudny. The eldest of three children. Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria (1931 ~ 2008) and younger sister, Virginia (1933 ~ 2024).
Leroy is survived by his three children; Jennifer, Regina and Andrew; six grandchildren; Jeremiah, Rachel, Zachary, Jordan, Olivia, and Grayson; five great-grandchildren, Bradley, Carissa, Lydia, Clara and Natalie; and one great-great granddaughter, Lola and his younger sister, Luann.
As the son of Leo Jazwick, a farmer in Platte Center, Nebraska, Leroy worked as a train depot agent for time, then trained to be an agent-telegrapher for the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR). He left UPRR to enlist in the Air Force. While he was stationed at Randolph Air Field in Texas, he met his wife to be, Gloria McClellan. Leroy was a section leader at the Crew Training Air Force (CTAF) at Randolph and Gloria worked in statistical services. They were married on December 18, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas.
Leroy discharged from the Air Force in April 1955 and changed careers to work for the airlines. This took him to Kansas City, Missouri for training and later to work at Braniff Airlines at Amon Carter Field in Ft. Worth, Texas, in the spring of 1956. While in Texas, he and Gloria welcomed their first child, Jennifer Lee, in August of 1958.
In October of 1958, Leroy transferred from Texas to Colorado with Braniff Airlines. Just before the birth of their second child, Regina Rae, in September 1959, Leroy relocated to Adams County, Colorado. The Jazwick family settled in for several years in Colorado and welcomed their third child, Andrew Vern in February 1964, during a raging blizzard.
Leroy and his family moved to Hagerman, Idaho in January 1974 where he began working for Air Idaho at the airport in Twin Falls, Idaho, as ground operations manager, until 1975. He and Gloria, along with Gloria’s parents, finished building an apartment 4 plex and restaurant, The Polish Palace. They owned and operated the restaurant until they sold it in 1979 and sold the apartments in 1981. Leroy worked as an employee of the State of Idaho until his retirement in the mid 1990’s.
Leroy was an avid genealogist, tirelessly working to track down and document family history. Active in the LDS Church, he and Gloria were sealed for time and eternity in the Boise LDS Temple in 1990. Leroy served in the LDS Church, spending a number of years as a Ward and Stake Clerk.
Leroy was also a fixture in the Hagerman Valley Historical Society, serving for several years on the Board of Directors. He was also active in promoting the St. Patrick’s Day fun run and Hagerman’s Fossil Days Parade.
