Leroy Dean Rathbun

In Loving Memory of Leroy Dean Rathbun, 80, of Filer, Idaho, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. 

Born on May 25th, 1946, in Twin Falls, Idaho, Leroy was the beloved son of Duane and Evelyn Rathbun. He attended Filer High School and began helping his family at Leo Stokesberry Custom Farming. He was a jack-of-all-trades and master of all. Just to mention a few: CDL, mechanic, welder, builder, and gun slinger. He also worked for Western Stockmans and Rangens, delivering feed to the dairies. Then went on to the Filer Highway District until he retired. 

Leroy was known for being an overall genuine and astonishing man. He enjoyed racing cars, camping, hunting, fishing, and shooting. He provided for, protected, and loved his wife, Carolyn, for 58 years of marriage. He touched the lives of many by being a father figure to all. He would give you the shirt off his back if needed.

Leroy is survived by his spouse, Carolyn Rose Rathbun (Ruffing), and three children: Bryce Rathbun of Boise, Carla Crawford of Twin Falls, and Jenna Rathbun of Jerome. Six grandchildren: Josh, Adam, Skiler and Karmon Crawford, Wiatt Williamson, and Rose Rathbun. Three great-grandchildren: Payton, Zaxtyn, and Jameson Crawford; two siblings, Hank (Sue) Rathbun and Donna (Bud) Compher; and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane (Evelyn) Rathbun and brother Larry Gene Rathbun, and many other relatives. 

A cremation was provided by Farmers Funeral Chapel in Buhl, Idaho. Graveside services will be held at Filer Cemetery in Filer, Idaho, and will be announced at a later date.
