Lowell Dean Jagels

March 25, 1935 — May 2, 2024

BUHL

Lowell Jagels was welcomed home into the arms of his loving Savior May 2, 2024. He was the second of two sons born to Clarence and Esther Jagels, and lived his whole life in the farming community he grew up in south of Buhl, Idaho. He married the love of his life, Clara King, in 1957, and they had one daughter, Cindy.

He attended Clover school as a child and continued his steadfast dedication to the Clover Church throughout his whole life. He loved the community and many people there, and they loved him in return. He sought to live the faith he professed in everything he did in his life. He was generous and was always ready to help anywhere it was needed.

He enlisted in the Idaho National Guard in his late teens and twenties and served proudly in this endeavor. He had many hobbies and interests in his life which he pursued with a child-like enthusiasm. Aside from many things connected to his farming, he loved and was self-taught in woodworking and photography. He had done everything from hunting and fishing to archery in his younger years (runner-up state champion) and downhill skiing.

He loved farming with his whole heart and soul. He especially loved taking care of sheep. He had a very special sheep named Sammy, who went with him everywhere in the back of his Bronco. He taught Sammy to pull a cart that he constructed and gave many rides to people throughout Sammy’s life. He also taught Sammy to “kneel” and he was part of some live nativity scenes where Sammy kneeled at the manger. He also had some very special dogs he loved in his life; Toby, Squiggy, Doodles, and Bear, who brightened his days with their cute personalities and antics. He was a renowned sheep-shearer and a master of his craft. He sheared not only his own sheep, but many for others as well, including the many 4-H lambs brought his way.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Verlyn; and his father and mother, Clarence and Esther. He is survived by his by his wife, Clara; and daughter, Cindy.

He never knew a stranger and he will be remembered and loved by many.

His family would like to thank all the staff at Grace Memory Care for the excellent love and care that they showed him as well as Hospice Visions who made the end of his journey pain-free and peaceful.

 A viewing will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Clover Trinity Lutheran Church, 3552 N 1825 E, Buhl, with funeral service starting at 2:00 pm. Burial will conclude at the Clover Lutheran Cemetery.

Psalms 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

He leadeth me beside still water,

He restores my soul.

He leads me in path of righteousness.

For His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil.

For You are with me;

Your rod and your staff,

They comfort me.

You prepare a table before me

In the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil,

My cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days of my life,

And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord,

Forever.
