LuDene Cutler Hopkins, 92 passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Brookdale Assisted Living after living there for 12 years. She was born August 7, 1929 to Della Grace Stallings and Francis Merion Cutler in Burley, Idaho. LuDene's father passed away when she was nine months old so she and her mother moved in with her Uncle Lawrence and Aunt Laura until she was about three years old, at which time her mother married her stepdad, Calvin Hoffman.
They continued living in Burley for a short time until they moved to Castle Creek. When she was five years old they moved to Buhl. During that time their house caught fire and they had to move in with her mom’s parents and eventually moved into a house by the baseball park.
LuDene attended high school in Buhl and graduated in 1948. While at high school she met the love of her life, Howard Hopkins. They were married June 5, 1949. Until Howard's passing, they celebrated 56 years of marriage. LuDene and Howard enjoyed keeping active. They loved camping, golfing, snowmobiling, and going to their grandchildren's ballgames. After Howard had his stroke in 1992, LuDene became his sole caretaker for seven years. Eventually Howard moved into Bridgeview Care Facility and LuDene moved to Twin Falls.
LuDene worked many jobs: JC Penney, Green Giant, Clear Springs Trout Company, Buhl Lunch Program, and Hopkins Electrical Company as the bookkeeper.
LuDene was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; daughter, Connie Gartner; three brothers, Nyal Hoffman, Kent Hoffman, and Carl Hoffman; parents, Della Grace and Francis Cutler; and her stepfather, Calvin Hoffman.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley (Ralph) Sherrill of Washington; daughters, Kathy (Lynn) Babington of Hagerman; Susie (Craig) Moore of Twin Falls; son, Steve (Shelia) Hopkins of Buhl; grandchildren, Angela (Butch) Bonning of Meridian; Kristy (Bryan) Whitmarsh of Hagerman; Ranae (Marc) Davison of Boise; Justin (Jenny) Hopkins of Buhl; Alisha Hopkins of Boise; Mike (Kathy) Brown of Meridian; Shane Brown of Boise; Cory Brown of Honduras; Ryan Brown of China; Chase Gartner of Washington; and Kelsey Moore of San Diego; and great grandchildren, Rylee, Taylor, Kinley, Ellie, Makena, Aspen, Kris, Colt, Barrett, and Zanora. LuDene's greatest joy was spending time with her family.
