Maria Teixeira of Twin Falls, Idaho, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister was born April 20, 1956, in Quibala Angola, and passed away February 4, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Maria began her education in Africa and during an extended visit to the US she graduated high school in Fallon, NV. Shortly after, Maria, her parents, and siblings, returned to Angola where she began attending college. After immigrating back to the US, she continued her higher education later in life at the College of Southern Idaho. Maria enjoyed a fulfilling and lifelong career in the banking industry where she was known for her dedication, professionalism, and achieved numerous accolades.
Maria married Manuel Teixeira on April 22, 1978, then began their family in California (Bay Area) prior to relocating to Buhl, Idaho in 1999. Maria was blessed with three children, LaSalette, Sergio, and Natasha and many grandchildren to which she dedicated her life.
Maria found true fulfillment as a mother, grandmother, entrepreneur, and natural nurturer. In her younger years she enjoyed playing in a soccer league along with taking walks, attending her children's sports events, and celebrating her Portuguese heritage. She adored gathering with family and friends for wine, coffee, and cards. She had a passion for traveling and loved catholic based pilgrimages. Maria’s unwavering faith was the foundation of her life.
Maria is survived by her son, Sergio (Mary); daughter, Natasha; grandchildren, Corbin, Malayna, Lexi, Kyra, Kaylee, and Kymber; sister, Helen; brothers, Joe (Anna), and Larry; and sister-in-law, Cecilia as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, LaSalette; her husband, Manuel Teixeira; her infant brother; her parents, Antonio Avelar and Elisa Avelar; and brother, Tony Avelar.
