The family of Marjorie Dennis is sad to share that their beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away at the age of 93 years old on September 19, 2025 at Bridgeview Estates in Twin Falls, Idaho.
She was born December 31, 1931, to Gabriel and Agnes Felix in Enderby, British Columbia. Marjorie was a member of the Splatsin Band of the Secwepemc First Nation in British Columbia, Canada. She was one of 16 children. She married Issac "Ike" Charlie and had two children, a son, Ronald C. Felix and a daughter, Katherine E. Felix.
Later, she came to the United States and met and married George W. Dennis, Jr. They lived in Seattle, Woodinville, and then Redmond, Washington where her husband had a successful television repair business while Marjorie took care of the seven children at home. Their five children were Elsie, George III, Melvin (Didi), Sidney, and Edith. They had a small family farm rearing chickens and cattle, including several dairy cows for milk for the family. Marjorie loved to garden and was able to feed her family fresh vegetables like carrots, corn, green beans, peas, onions and fresh fruits, including strawberries and raspberries. She canned food for the winter and made jams and jellies. Marjorie sewed clothes for the children and made toys like slingshots for them. She even fixed their bicycles.
They loved to travel in their Winnebago motorhome and went to Canada, Mexico, and to many states including George's home state of Kansas and her favorite state Arizona. A special trip was taking the kids to see family in Kansas, traveling to Acapulco, Mexico, and then up the west coast to California where they took the kids to Disneyland.
George and Marge moved to Buhl in 1976 with their four youngest children George III, Melvin, Sidney, and Edith. They were active in the Buhl Band Boosters Club while their second and third youngest sons played in the high school band.
After George's passing in 1992, their son Melvin moved from Nevada to live with and take care of her until his death in 2024. Marge eventually entered assisted living at Bridgeview Estates in Twin Falls.
Following her husband's death, Marjorie learned to drive and went to school at the College of Southern Idaho where her classes helped her become a home healthcare assistant. She loved her work and often became attached to her clients.
While Marjorie was still living at home, her granddaughter, Jennifer Hurley, would bring her for visits to North Dakota where they would enjoy attending powwows, boxing events, going on car trips, and doing Marjorie's favorite activity of fishing.
Throughout the years, Marjorie made sweaters, booties, baby blankets, mittens, hats, and afghans for her children and grandchildren. Even in hospice, she tried to teach the CNAs how to crochet and made a necklace for one and a baby blanket for another.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, George Dennis, Jr. in 1992; her oldest son, Ronald C. Felix in 2022; her second youngest son, Melvin Dennis, in 2024; a granddaughter, Stephanie Maland in 1985; and her grandson, Jamie Dofelmier in 2013.
She is survived by her children, Katherine Felix, Elsie Dennis-Dofelmier (Jim), George Dennis III, Sidney Dennis (JR), and Edith Hurley (Chris).
Her memorial service was held on September 24, 2025 at the West End Cemetery in Buhl. She is buried next to her husband, George, and sons, Ronald and Melvin.
