Morris Cope

November 22, 1926 — October 13, 2013

Morris Wayne Cope passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 at his home in Buhl, Idaho, at the age of 86.

Wayne, as he preferred to be called, was born on November 22, 1926 in Hartville, Missouri to Omer and Opal Cope. He moved to Idaho with his family in 1944 and met the love of his life, Virginia Lee Dixon, in 1945. They were married on March 16, 1946 and were later blessed with two daughters.

Wayne was a meat cutter by profession and worked at several small markets over the years. In October, 1971, they purchased the Dairy Queen in Buhl. After that, that opportunity arose to fulfill his lifetime dream of owning his own small grocery store with a meat counter. They ran Cope's Market in Buhl until his health forced them to close.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia; daughters, Karen (Rick) Bolian of Filer and Sharon (Gary) Welch of Buhl; grandsons, Chris Welch of Buhl and Gary "Pete" Welch of Boise, Idaho; brothers, Lavell of Twin Falls and Darrell of Hartville, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet and brother Lavern.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Farmer Funeral Chapel, in Buhl Idaho. A visitation will be held 4 -7pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Farmer Funeral Chapel. Donations may be made to Hospice Visions, 209 Shoup Ave W. Twin Falls, Idaho 83301.
