Neoma Tibbets

November 17, 1948 — March 12, 2018

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Neoma Elaine Tibbets, 69, of Buhl announces her passing on March 12, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Neoma was born to Burnie and Amanda (Bartlett) Overmon in Twin Falls on November 17, 1948. She attended high school in Jerome where she was on the drill team and graduated with high honors. She was a hard worker and was expected to work on the family farm in Jerome where she milked cows day and night. She loved being on the farm, raising animals, working in her garden and canning the vegetables that she had grown.

On May 11, 1967, Neoma was married to her eternal companion, Gene Tibbets. Together they raised 8 children. In 1974, Neoma was sealed to her family for time and eternity in the Manti, Utah temple. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since the age of 18, which brought her peace and everlasting faith through life’s trials.

Neoma will be remembered for her caring, gentle nature. She was a caregiver from an early age. She had a love of children, one day hoping to become a teacher for the special needs children. Over the years, she cared for terminally ill people with great passion and love for the ones she took care of. She served in many different roles and callings within her church including nursery teacher, visiting teacher and on the compassionate service committee. She loved all the sisters that she helped through her callings. Neoma loved flowers and would fill her home with beautiful plants. She was an exceptional baker and homemaker. She would often fill her days baking cookies for her family and friends. Her love of baking cinnamon rolls, cookies, pies and other goodies has been a blessing to all and will be missed by all who enjoyed her goodies.

Neoma’s grandchildren were her pride and joy. She thoroughly enjoyed attending dance recitals, motocross, 4-H, and sporting events. She rarely missed an opportunity to be with her family. Neoma is an angel to all that has come into her life through the years, taking everyone in as her own children and grandchildren.

She loved life and all the adventures with her children working side by side. The family enjoyed taking her on 4-wheeler rides in the mountains where she thought some of the trails were rough but enjoyed the final destination and excitement it took to get there together as a family.

Neoma is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gene Tibbets, her children: Walter (Alice) Tibbets, Julie (Wayne) Hulet, Amanda (Donny) Henscheid, Kevan (Valerie) Tibbets, Timothy Tibbets, Richard (Brandy Inchausti) Tibbets, Christopher (Jackie) Tibbets, Jeffery (Jacqueline) Tibbets; 26 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and sister Eleisia. Preceded in death by her Mother, Father, loving Aunts and Uncles.

A viewing in memory of Neoma will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 from 5-7pm at Farmer Funeral Chapel (130 9th Ave. North, Buhl, ID) and an hour prior to funeral at the LDS Church. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00am at the Thousand Springs ward church building located at 501 Main Street, Buhl, Idaho 83316. Graveside dedication will be at the Jerome cemetery following the service.
