TWIN FALLS

Paul L. Borchard

July 29, 1932 – July 28, 2026

Paul L. Borchard passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, one day shy of his 94th birthday. He was the youngest of six children born to Charles and Carolyn Borchard on July 29, 1932, in Orange, California. He lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to family, the Catholic church, his love of farming and let’s not forget about golfing!

Dad, you were a father that all fathers should aspire to be. You always described Mom as “the love of my life” and demonstrated that love every day. You encouraged all four of us in every stage of our lives and gave us the space we needed to grow and become the people we are today. You exemplified what it means to be honest, hardworking and true to yourself and your beliefs. You spoke your mind and held strong opinions, but you were always willing to listen to others’ opinions.

You dedicated time, energy and passion to the community: a lifetime golfer and 50-year member of Clear Lake Country Club, you were a founding member of Idaho Couples Golf Association; a dedicated farmer and long-time potato grower, you were instrumental in the Idaho Water Recharge District Association. You were an active member of the Buhl Rotary Club, and a Eucharistic Minister for many years. We miss you, but we know you are happy where you are.

Paul is survived by his beautiful wife of 70 years, Kathy, whose partnership and love were at the center of his life. He is also survived by his four children: Patrick Borchard and his wife, Karin; Cheryl McMurtrey and her husband, Tim; Susan Barry and her husband, Andrew; and Carrie DeMichelis and her husband, Nicola, 11 grandchildren and 21½ great-grandchildren.

Paul will be remembered with deep affection by his family and friends for the life he lived, the love he shared, and the legacy he leaves behind. His presence will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 3, 2026, 10:00 am at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church at 161 6th Avenue E., Twin Falls with viewing starting at 9:00am and Rosary at 9:30am. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Snake River Canyon National Cemetery, 1585 E. Elm Street, Buhl, ID, 83316.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Paula Thompson for her compassionate care of Paul with her weekly visits for the past year, as well as to caregivers Jennifer and Nancy from Auburn Crest who helped us navigate the final days of Paul’s amazing life.
