Rickie (Rick) Steve Todd was born on August 21,1954 in Twin Falls, Idaho. He passed away on June 4th, 2025, at the St. Luke’s hospital in Boise, Idaho. He would have been 71 years old on his next birthday. He was affectionately known as "BONKA" in our family. Bonka lived in Buhl his whole life.
Rick is the 3rd child of Melvin George Todd and Sarah Colleen Coley Todd. He has a brother: Danny Todd from Gooding, Idaho and a sister: Terry Todd Drennan from Visalia, California.
Rick was a mischievous boy. He and his brother were always causing some trouble in life. Their mom used to say that she didn’t spank them on their birthdays just because they should have one day a year without a spanking. He and his brother shared a room while they were growing up. He was slightly on the wild side when he was younger. Rick’s family loved to go camping. In the earlier years, all 5 of them would cram into the old pickup and because Rick was the youngest, he would sit on a bucket turned upside down. (The pickup only had one bench seat.)
His parents were into archery and Rick was too. All of them enjoyed hunting and fishing. When Rick was in high school, he and one of his best friends, Bill Partin, former brother in-law and lifelong friend, enjoyed going out to the desert and shooting jack rabbits in the dark. When he was a senior, another friend and him skipped one of their classes most of the year and went bowling instead. They got second at State in bowling. I’m not sure how they did in the class, probably failed it.
Rick graduated from C.S.I Mechanical Trade School. Rick married Barbara Ann Partin. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters. Heather Diane and Stephanie Michelle. Rick and Barbara owned a gas station for a while. He was also a janitor at the schools for awhile. This marriage ended in divorce.
Rick married Diane Bodily on October 25th, 1980, in Kimberly, Idaho. A year later, their marriage was solemnized for all time and eternity in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on October 31st, 1981. They would have been married for 45 years in October.
Rick worked for the City of Buhl as the garbage truck driver most of the time and took a lighter workload position towards the end of working for the city. He stayed with the city job for 20 years and retired because of health. Rick did mechanic work on the side for extra cash. His fun money. Rick and Diane enjoyed camping, motorcycles and 4-wheeling. Rick continued to enjoy hunting and fishing through the years. He even got Diane to go sturgeon fishing.
Rick loved our grandkids and became BONKA with the first grandchild. He has been BONKA ever since. He was introduced as BONKA so much that some people never knew his real name. Rick quietly served the Lord by faithfully cleaning the church house every Saturday for many years. His favorite church callings were serving in the Boise, Idaho L.D.S. Temple as an Ordinance Worker for about 6 months and also serving in the Twin Falls L.D.S. Temple checking recommends on the Monday work days. He served in the Twin Falls Temple almost the whole time since it opened back in 2008. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Rick is survived by his wife: Diane Todd, his mother: Collen Todd, his brother: Danny Todd, his sister: Terry Todd Drennan, daughters: Heather (Chad) Price and Stephanie Todd; grandkids: Tyler Price (Ashlee), Rebekha Price (Treavor), Jacob Price (Shalece), Arianna Rodriguez (Anthony), Madyson Rodgriguez & Kennedi Otto; great-grandkids: Mason Amico, Neveah Amico and Elijah Price. Rick is also survived by our daughter’s half-brother as a bonus family member: Andrew Curiel (Jessica) and their kids-Julian, Andy, Roxy and Vinnie.
