Robert John Meyers

December 11, 1953 — December 2, 2023

TWIN FALLS

Robert John Meyers, aged 69, passed away suddenly on December 2, 2023, in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Born December 11, 1953, in Montpelier, Idaho to John Rex Meyers and Sarah Callan Jensen. He was the youngest child, with older siblings Sally, Mary, and an older half-brother 18 years his senior, Bill.

At 11 months old, his family moved to Buhl, Idaho to manage OK Tire Shop where Les Schwab now sits. Robert had very fond memories of many hours spent there in the company of his father, friends, and associates. His mother worked as an accountant in Buhl, and he always attributed his learning to work from his father and mother.

As a boy he loved to hunt and fish with his father. Robert found lots of fun and interesting activities in the neighborhood with the Fisher boys and Brian Lamb. Many good times were had shooting bows and guns and playing marbles and basketball.

Robert made a game of earning and leveraging his money at a young age, and he was very entrepreneurial delivering papers, mowing lawns, among other jobs. He prided himself on being timely with delivery and collections, having several routes, and training other paper boys.

Robert graduated from Buhl High School in 1972. He became a realtor on June 20, 1975, and had an active license to the day he died. He graduated from CSI with a degree in Business. While at CSI Robert and a friend, Dave Higginson, owned and ran an arcade. He pursued his bachelor’s degrees in Agronomy and Business at Utah State University. During his time in Logan, Robert was working selling pivots with Emory Wiser and farm consulting in the summers on improving their crops.

During trips home he began dating and fell in love with Kathi Hulme. They married on February 5, 1976, in the Logan, Utah Temple. A month later, he lost his father. Losing his father was one of the hardest things in his life. Robert was only 22, and his father was 59. A year later, their first child, a son, named Morgan John was born while still residing in Logan.

After graduating Utah State, Robert, Kathi, and Morgan returned to Twin Falls, Idaho where Robert lived the rest of his life. Two more children would join this union with the births of Monica Lee and Martin Robert.

Robert worked and succeeded in many capacities in his life, with so many relationships it is difficult to include everyone. He raised trout with Ken Ellis, worked decades with Robert Jones Realty, as an Agronomist consulted fields, owned motels with Nolan Victor, and loaned money with Mitch Campbell. He loved real estate, especially farmland and houses.

Robert had a great love and talent for agriculture, consulting thousands of acres with farmers from Aberdeen to Bruneau visiting each farm at least twice a week. He raised his first potato crop with Jack Hirai in 1976. He bought his first farm in Wendell in 1983 and bought many more thereafter. He loved raising potatoes and loved competing with Dale Stukenholz on raising the best crops.

He had many friends and farming partners including his son Morgan, Joe Hults, Jim Davis, Ray Clark, Ken Mulberry, and finally in production with Craig and Jared Giles. He loved to tell people he farmed in 5 counties raising potatoes, corn, sweet corn, alfalfa, sugar beets, beans, wheat, barley, peas, and more.

Basketball and football were some of Robert’s hobbies. He was a CSI season ticket holder, sitting next to friend Dave Long on the first row behind the opposing team. They loved to heckle them. Robert was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing even up until this year. He was pleased to pass on this love to his children and his grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Meyers; son, Martin Meyers; and brothers, Bill Meyers and Larry (Mary) Holloway.

He is survived by his wife, Kathi Meyers; son, Morgan (Robyn) Meyers and their children, Jocelyn and Beckton; daughter, Monica (Trevor) Ware and their sons, Andre, Miles, Beau, and Johan; Son Martin’s wife, Emily and children, Eleanor, Sophia, John, Lydia, Evelyn, and Alice; sisters, Sally (Willie) Moala and Mary Holloway; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
