Robert “Bob” James Walker passed away on October 29, 2026.
He was born on August 21, 1940, in Nachez, Washington, to Margaret and David Walker.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, completing four years of active duty followed by two years in the reserves.
Following his military service, he devoted many years to agriculture, working hard as a fruit grower and managing his own cherry orchard in Prosser, Washington. Growing cherries was more than a job; it was a way of life that reflected his dedication, work ethic, and pride in what he built.
Outside of work, Bob had a lifelong passion for automobiles, especially classic cars. He loved rebuilding them and spent countless hours bringing old cars back to life. He was also known for his sense of humor and ability to bring laughter to those around him. Whether working in the orchard, tinkering with a car, or spending time with loved ones, Bob had a way of making his presence known. In his later years, Bob spent his time alongside his family in Boise, Idaho.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Shirley Walker; his children, Charlene Pickering, Ricky Adams, and Brian Hammond; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He shared a particularly close bond with his niece, Cindy, who held a special place in his heart.
Bob will be remembered for his humor, hardworking nature, and the many years he devoted to his family and his orchard. Above all, he will be remembered by those who knew and loved him for the memories they shared and the laughter he brought into their lives.
He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.
A graveside service celebrating Bob's life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at West End Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Bob's memorial webpage at www.farmerfuneralchapel.com.
