Roger Louis Read was born February 25, 1948 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Louis Newell and Zelma Ann (Johnson) Read. Roger graduated from Castleford High School in 1966, shortly after graduating Roger joined the United States Air Force. He served eight years, becoming a Staff Sergeant and completed a tour in Vietnam. Roger then served a year as with the Air Force Reserve before ending his career in the military.

On January 29, 1972, Roger married his soul mate and best friend, Sharyl L. Denton in Elko, Nevada. Together they shared many years enjoying gardening, woodworking, and carving. Roger loved making beautiful boxes, painting, and carving special designs for all his grandkids, and great grandkids. Roger loved and lived for his family, never wanting to be a burden or a pain to anyone. He was a humble, quiet, man who loved a good joke or a good jab at a person.

Roger studied art at U of I, California Real Estate and Law, Oceanography, Auto Mechanics, at San Bernardino Valley College, and Business Administration, at Cal State University, San Bernardino.

Roger was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen and Claude Read; parents, Zelma and Louis Read; sister, Trudy A. (Read) Smith; great granddaughter, Savannah Read; and many aunts and uncles.

Roger will be greatly missed and loved by his wife, Sharyl Read; sons, Timothy W. (Shaunna) Denton- Read, Brett A. Read; grandchildren, Amanda, Kimberly, Megan (Gary), Heather, McKinzee (Austin), Timothy, Andrew, Ashton, Danika, and soon to be 13 great grandkids.

Before his passing Roger wanted to thank all of the dedicated nurses, doctors, and staff at Huntsman University in Salt Lake City, Utah. A special thank you to all of the students throughout the years, from Castleford School who wrote him thank you letters for being a veteran. P.S. Pinky loves you. until we meet again!!

Per Rogers request, there will be no service will be held.
