Our beloved wife, mother, sister and friend Shirley Jeanne Hulme passed away on April 24, 2026.
Shirley entered into this world on August 13, 1936, in Buhl, Idaho. She was the third child out of seven and the second daughter born to Edward and Golda Roberts. Shirley was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Even as a young child she had incredible faith, she understood how much our Heavenly Father loves and cares for each one of us and the importance of our savior Jesus Christ.
Shirley attended all of her school years in Buhl, Idaho graduating in 1955. Shirley was a good student, very sociable and played on the girls’ basketball team. During her High School years, Shirley met a handsome guy from Hagerman named Larry Hulme. Originally Shirley met Larry while on a double date with him and his brother. While dancing Larry decided he wanted to switch partners and dance with Shirley instead, and the rest is history. The sweethearts dated throughout high school and were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 2, 1955.
To this union came two beautiful children, a little girl named Kathi and a little boy named Randi. Shirley and Larry raised their family in Buhl, Idaho. The family enjoyed travelling and often took trips to see family in the Bay area. They enjoyed time in the mountains and counted Redfish Lake as one of their favorite spots.
Shirley worked in many well-known businesses in the community. She worked at Kings and was shift lead at Green Giant for many years. In the 80’s Shirley began selling Avon. Shirley loved her family and friends in the community, and she enjoyed visiting with them in their homes. Shirley was very stylish and she took pride in her appearance, she has always been well dressed, nice jewelry and makeup, with every hair in place.
Larry and Shirley were a complimentary team in everything that they did. They built their dream home, board by board and brick by brick. They would work uptown during the day and spend the night times working on their house. What an example of hard work and determination. Shirley had a talent for making everything she touched beautiful. Their home was not only crafted of the finest materials, but it was well styled and well decorated for every season. As they were constructing the house they labored on the landscaping, building a beautiful garden, orchard and planting the flower beds. They took excellent care of their yard, many happy hours were spent with family and friends in this park like garden.
Though she only took piano lessons for a short time, Shirley was an accomplished piano player and accompanist. She took the little instruction that she had received and expounded it. Not only was Shirley great at reading music, but she could also play by ear and embellish any tune or melody. It was truly a joy to hear her play. She was the ward organist for 30+ years, playing each Sunday and for many funerals as well as Easter Contatas and Christmas programs.
Family brought Shirley a lot of joy and she enjoyed a close-ness with her siblings throughout her life. Shirley has been blessed with six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A visit to see Larry and Shirley was always a great joy met with good food, a warm fire and lots of love.
Shirley is survived by her husband Larry Hulme; children, Kathi Meyers and Randi (Cassie) Hulme; grandchildren, Morgan (Robyn) Meyers, Monica (Trevor) Ware, (Emily Meyers), Dantte, Erin and Ryan Hulme; and great grand-children, Jocelyn(Jeremy) Evans and Beckton Meyers; Andre, Miles, Beau and Johan Ware; Eleanor, Sophia, John, Lydia, and Evelyn Meyers and Alice Carmack.
