BUHL

Sondra Rae “Sonie” Lechner, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, in Buhl, Idaho. She was born on August 22, 1939, in Twin Falls, Idaho, and she spent her life rooted in the Magic Valley, where her warmth and creativity touched many.

A proud graduate of Buhl High School’s Class of 1957, Sonie later pursued her passion for beauty and style by attending beauty school in San Diego, California. Her artistic talents extended far beyond cosmetology—she was a gifted artist whose love for color and design found expression in everything from painting to home decorating. Her green thumb brought life to every garden she tended, and her deep affection for animals was evident to all who knew her.

Sonie’s vibrant personality made her a true “people” person. She never met a stranger and had an uncanny ability to make others feel welcome and valued. Whether through a warm smile or a heartfelt conversation, she left lasting impressions wherever she went.

Her faith was an important part of her life. A Christian at heart, Sonie attended the Buhl Methodist Church and found comfort and community within its walls. Sonie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Terry Lechner; her cherished son, Caycee Lechner; and her parents Leroy and Erna Dean Hoffa. Though their absence was deeply felt throughout her later years, she carried their memories with grace and strength.

She is remembered lovingly by her brother, Dan Hoffa and his wife Denise of Pocatello, Idaho; nephew, Jason Hoffa and his wife Lori of Pocatello; niece, Kellie Armstrong and her husband Justin of Pocatello; as well as many others whose lives were brightened by knowing her.

May the memory of Sondra “Sonie” Lechner bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank Sue Sawers for her caring help and dedication to help Sonie through cancer treatments, trips to the hospital, shopping and helping her stay in her home through her illness. We consider her our caring Angel in Buhl.
