In Loving Memory of Tammie Alice Peterson

Tammie Alice Peterson, 68, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends. Born on November 24, 1957, in Twin Falls, Idaho, Tammie lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and an unwavering love for her family, friends, and community.

Tammie graduated from Buhl High School in 1976. During her senior year, she qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals, where she not only competed but also shared her love of country music by singing during the event—a memory that remained close to her heart throughout her life.

In 1978, Tammie married John C. Peterson. Together they welcomed their beloved son, Burton John Peterson, on January 21, 1979. Though their marriage later ended in divorce, Burton remained the pride and joy of her life.

Tammie later found her lifelong partner, Dale Butterworth. Together they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and service to the Buhl community. Dale’s businesses, Butterworth Concrete and the Mud Creek Store, became local staples, and Tammie played an integral role in their success. Since the establishment of the Mud Creek Store in 2008, she poured her heart into helping customers, supporting neighbors, and creating a welcoming place for everyone who walked through the doors.

A true entrepreneur, Tammie embraced every opportunity to work and create. Throughout her life she worked as a bookkeeper, sold insurance, enjoyed woodworking, and wore many hats in the family businesses. She believed in the value of hard work and approached every endeavor with determination and enthusiasm.

Outside of work, Tammie loved spending time on the golf course, playing pool, and caring for animals of every kind. She had a compassionate spirit and was known for her endless generosity. Whether organizing fundraisers for families in need or offering help to someone going through difficult times, Tammie never hesitated to lend a hand. She truly never met a stranger, and her warmth, kindness, and infectious smile left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Tammie is survived by her loving partner, Dale Butterworth, and his family; her sister, Dustie (Gary) VanWinkle; her brother, Reggie (Frosty) Finney; her sister, JoBil (Bill) Clark; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Barbara Finney; her brother, Rocky Finney; her nephew Dana Finney; and her beloved son, Burton John Peterson.

Tammie’s legacy is one of resilience, generosity, and unconditional love. She lived with an open heart, gave freely of herself, and made her community a better place through her kindness and compassion. Her greatest legacy was not the businesses she helped build or the many jobs she held, but the countless lives she touched with her generous heart. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Buhl Bible Church at 1004 Burley Ave., Buhl, ID 83316., at 11:00 a.m.
