Thomas “Tom” Kurt Speck passed away to quickly from an unexpected illness in Murray, Utah on July 3, 2026, with his family by his side. He was a loving husband, great dad, the best Papa and a good friend.
Tom was born in Lewiston, Idaho, and moved around a few times before landing in Enumclaw, WA. He bucked hay with his brother, Tim and milked cows to provide for himself until he met his wife, Leasa in 1979 at her graduation party.
Tom & Leasa were married May 24, 1980, and spent 46 years celebrating life together. They built a business together, T&L Cedar Lawn Furniture. They started out doing craft shows and street fairs, then moved to Idaho in 1990. Here his business grew and he happily brought in his son, Jake to help.
Tom held several jobs over his 64 years, including milking cows, account representative for U-Haul, A&A Pallet, and Les Schwab. The move to Idaho let him pursue his dream of owning his own business.
Tom loved to throw pool parties and enjoyed cooking for everyone. He was always happy to entertain every holiday. He served as a member of the Buhl Chamber of Commerce and the Buhl P&Z. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and served as chairman for several years, and also loved fish and duck hunt.
His greatest joy (besides his wife!) was his cabin in Fairfield, Idaho. He put a lot of sweat into that cabin, doing all the interior work with the help of family. He cherished his time with his grandchildren in the Winter, pulling them around in the CanAm in the snow. He and Leasa would go on rides every weekend just enjoying time together and the beautiful scenery.
Tom enjoyed yearly trips to the beach with family, crabbing and eating the catch at the end of the day.
Tom is survived by his wife, Leasa; son, Jake, his wife Melissa and two granddaughters, Abygail and Raelynn; daughter, Kelsey and her family Brad and Bodhi; brother, Tim Speck; and mother, Rula Peterson.
He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Leasa. Strength, loyalty, companionship, and laughter provided for a lasting love. Tom was very proud of Jake and Kelsey and their accomplishments.
His family is devastated by his loss but will remember his loving nature, stubborn ways and his devotion to life and everything in it.
Tom will be deeply missed, forever loved and never forgotten.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Farmer Funeral Chapel, 130 9th Ave N, Buhl. Tom’s ashes will be spread in the mountains of Fairfield, the place he loved the most.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Tom’s memorial webpage at www.farmerfuneralchapel.com.
