VanDoren Reed

VanDoren "Van" Ernest Reed, 77, of Castleford, passed away at his home Thursday night, August 2, 2012.
Van was born June 1, 1935 in Hollywood, California to Ernest and Blanche Reed. He attended school there until the age of nine. With his sister, Sandra, and his parents they moved to the family farm of his grandparents, Tom and Anna Dell Reed.
After graduating from the Castleford School in 1953, he attended the Twin Falls Business College. He was in the Buhl National Guard for four years and spent four years in the Army Reserve.
He began farming with his father in 1954. After the death of his father in 1957, he continued farming the family farm until his retirement in 1996.
Van was known for keeping the farm neat and farm machinery and pick-ups in excellent condition.
He is survived by his sister, Sandra Helsley, niece, Vicky (Lou) Probasco, nephew, Mark (Kim) Helsley, great nieces, Samantha (Brad) Hite, Andrea (Eric) Williams and their children, Tyler and Aubrey Hite, and Cheyanne Williams.
A private graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls Idaho. Arrangements under the direction of Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl.
