Willis Michael Moore

Willis Michael Moore (56), also known as Billy or Bill, from Filer, ID, formerly from Buhl, ID, a loving brother, husband, and father of three, has left to be with the heavenly Father on Friday, June 23, 2023.

Bill was born to Gary Dean Moore and Margaret Marie (Smith) Moore, Torkelson, in Twin Falls, ID, at Magic Valley Memorial Hospital on January 4, 1967. He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by his cousin Dennis Sudweeks on January 6, 1978. Bill and his brothers had a rough childhood growing up and rarely talked about it.

Bill attended Buhl Elementary and the middle and high schools within the Filer School District. While attending Filer High School, his pickup broke down on the side of the road between Buhl and Filer, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Ilene (Stuart) Moore, also known as Buffy or Buff. They dated throughout school, even though both of their parents disapproved of their relationship. He dropped out of high school his junior year, got his GED, and worked for his father, Gary, at the service station Central Auto Sales on the corner of South Stevens Street and Highway 30 in Filer. During the summer, he worked for his grandfather, Hastings Ira Moore, also known as Ace, helping with the Potato Harvest.

Bill and Buff dated for 5 years before they got married in Elko, NV, on October 4, 1987. After their marriage, they worked together at the potato cellars in Hazelton, ID, helping with the storage of potatoes. They kept their marriage a secret for several months before they told anyone. They would've been married for 36 years and together for a total of 41 years this year (2023).

Bill and Buff did some traveling when they weren't working. They made a trip to Toronto, Canada, to visit old friends and even went to see Mount Rushmore. They moved to Bosman, MT, in 1993, where Buff conceived their first child. They moved back to Filer, ID, shortly after discovering the pregnancy so that they could be closer to family. Their first son, Brandon Michael Moore, was born on June 13, 1994, at the home of Buff's parents with the help of a midwife.

Bill got his CDL later in 1994 to do Long-Haul Trucking. His favorite thing about Long-Haul Trucking was the ability to travel the states and see different places. He drove for Basterrechea Trucking Company, located in Gooding, ID, for a while, then went on to drive for Giltner, located in Jerome, ID. It was during this time that he and Buff conceived their second son, Dwight Dean Moore, who was later born on February 26, 1996. He often took his wife and kids with him on some of his trips. He was forced to stop Long-Haul Trucking in 2003 when he suffered a back injury that left him disabled. For the rest of his life, he would become a stay-at-home dad.

Bill recovered, and his health began to improve in 2004. Later that year, they conceived their third son, Gabriel Lynn Moore, who was later born on June 8, 2005. For the rest of his life as a stay-at-home dad, he spent a lot of time doing family activities such as barbecuing, camping, going to the drive-in theater in Twin Falls, ID, riding quad ATVs, movie nights on most weekends often ordering pizza to eat while watching the movies, putting puzzles together, and swimming. His favorite personal hobbies were putting together models, anything and everything hotrod-related, searching through rolled coins to fill in his coin books, tinkering with things to see how they worked, and fixing things that were broken.

Bill spent countless hours with his boys. He took them everywhere he went. He played games with them and watched lots of movies together. His boys would often watch him work on things or tinker with them for fun. If his boys were outside driving quad ATVs around the pasture, he would often join them. He and his boys had a combined interest in model rockets and enjoyed building them together and launching them in the pasture or at the park.

Bill became severely depressed when his family's property was put up for auction, forcing them to move in with Buff's half-brother, Dwayne D. Torkelson in September of 2016. He slowly started to regain interest in things again as his depression went down. In 2017, he found out that he was going to be a grandfather, and he was overwhelmed with excitement. His grandson, Jeremy Issac Moore, was born on October 9, 2017. When he held Jeremy for the first time, he broke into tears of joy and wanted to make a change in his life to be a better person. He had overcome most of his depression for a while.

Bill, Buff, and their boys were forced to move again due to the foreclosure of Dwayne's home in October of 2018. They moved in with Buff's father, Tommy Lynn Stuart, brother Daniel Wayne J. Stuart, sisters Anna Mei Stuart and later Dottie Lynn Stuart, and half-grandnephew Michael Alexander (Rundle) Stuart. His depression had hit an all-time high, and he lost all interest in everything, only wanting to sleep and watch television. He had a lot of health problems throughout his life, and his depression, coupled with prior diagnoses, led to his passing.

Bill is preceded in death by his father, Gary Dean Moore, and mother, Margaret Marie (Smith) Moore, Torkelson. He is survived by his brothers Farron Ira Moore and Daron Dean Moore, his wife Dorothy Ilene (Stuart) Moore, his three sons Brandon Michael Moore, Dwight Dean Moore, and Gabriel Lynn Moore, his daughter-in-law Monica Louise (Knott) Moore, and his grandson Jeremy Issac Moore.

A private service for family and friends will be held at Rock Creek Park in Twin Falls, ID, on August 26 at 4:00 P.M. to give everyone time to recover and regroup their thoughts.
