Obituary

Edith Catherine Dillon Roland, 96, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021. She was born January 4, 1925. Edith attended school in Twin Falls and graduated high school in 1944.

On September 12, 1944, she married Ernest James Roland in Wells, Nevada. They made their home in Buhl for over 76 years. Edith was a devout Catholic and raised her children with the church’s commitment to family. She was the quintessential grandmother and a family homemaker. She was an accomplished baker and cook, and all of her family enjoyed gathering at home to delight in her cooking.

Edith worked at Farmers Bank for over 30 years and enjoyed it very much. After retirement, she loved quilting, cooking, making ice cream, and spending time with her family. She quilted for her grandkids, and great grandkids across the western United States and donated countless quilts and scarves to local shelters and families in need. She cherished time with her friends and was an active member of the Ladies Monthly Birthday Club where they would all meet and have lunch and margaritas at El Cazador.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Siemon and Mary Dillon; husband, James Ernest Roland; sisters, Ivy Turley and Barbara Wolverton; and brothers, Mike, Louis, Ed, Jim, and “Dutch” Dillon. She is survived by her sons, twins: Gary (Nancy) and Greg (Jackie); and Jim and Terry; daughter, Judy (Nate); sister, MaryJo (Leon); brother, Joe “Short”; grandchildren, Chris, Michele, Jodi, Katie, Amy, Annabelle, Gregory, Colton, Jeff, and Ronnie; and many great and great-great grandchildren.
